We expect to define our school thus: "One World will be a model secondary school, comprising separate boys', girls', and upper schools, preparing students for higher education via an American Baccalaureate Certificate programme." This does not negate our original intention to partner with premiere providers of international secondary education, but allows us the option of retaining our independence, subject to the outcom of negotiations. The adoption of world-class curricula in a school ensures that the school is brought up to international standards. We continue to be inspired by the model of the United World Colleges, a worldwide movement bringing young people from many nations and backgrounds together to live and learn together during the final two years of secondary school. UWCs almost always prepare their students for the IB diploma, and UWC alumni are currently working on all continents to make a better world.
In addition to applying to become thus suitably authorized, One World plans to become a Cambridge International Examinations Centre, so that our graduates will also be certified by another of the world's leading educational organizations. Cambridge qualifications are recognized by educators and employers all over the world, and Cambridge exams are offered in more than 150 countries.
Academics
Top Quality Educational Standards
A Multilingual, Multicultural Model of Education
One World's is an academically demanding curriculum that should lead to academic success as verified by nationally-normed assessments in English language arts and mathematics as well as in more frequently neglected areas of the curriculum, such as science, foreign languages, and visual and performing arts. We offer separate French, Chinese, and Spanish language sections and plan to use these languages not only for their own courses but also as vehicles of instruction, in upper secondary school, in other subjects such as geography. Every One World graduate will be at least bilingual, and will have the opportunity to study a third language.
